    Kertarajasa Buddhist College Inter-religious Learning from the Perspective of Self-Study of Teaching Practice

    Using the self-study of teaching practice (S-STP), this research examines the process of inter-religious learning at Kertarajasa Buddhist College. The S-STP applied to this study is a potential alternative to answer many teaching challenges that were left out by other educational research approaches. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the courses of inter-religious learning were offered online. These courses were designed and taught by the first author who is a non-Buddhist teacher-educator works in a Buddhist teaching institution.  The courses were delivered using various online learning tools, assisted with scaffold learning, and included guest lectures. In the learning process, students were given opportunity to interact with the instructor and guest lectures. The guest lectures are liyan (the others) and subject-matter experts. The interactions mean to develop students’ awareness of other religious communities and the room for them to experience the religious moderation. This study reveals that the S-STP provides scientific method for the instructor to study own teaching practices. The S-STP as a research approach enables the course instructor to reflect on opportunities and challenges on teaching.  The research approach also enables the instructor to self-assess the professional development as a teacher-educator. Moreover, feedback from the critical friend unveiled strengths and weaknesses of the teaching that were possible unseen by the instructor

    AbstrakTulisan ini menyajikan rancangan konseptual pengembangan pembelajaran blended learning mata kuliah Percakapan dan Mendengarkan Bahasa Inggris untuk mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Timor (Unimor). Blended learning dianggap sebagai model pembelajaran yang tepat untuk diterapkan di Unimor karena dalam pelaksanaannya memungkinkan adanya perpaduan antara pertemuan tatap muka di kelas dengan komponen-komponen pembelajaran daring. Penggunaan berbagai teknologi daring juga diidentifikasi dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan pemelajar untuk mengembangkan keterampilan sesuai keahlian di bidangnya. Pelaksanaan blended learning dapat mendukung mahasiswa untuk memperoleh kualitas hasil belajar yang lebih baik. Kajian konseptual mengenai pengembangan mata kuliah blended learning ini dimulai dengan memaparkan prinsip-prinsip blended learning yang dapat diterapkan di Unimor, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan identifikasi manfaat pelaksanaannya pada mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris.     Pemahaman Siswa SMP Terhadap Pelaksanaan Layanan Belajar Sosial Sebagai Pengamalan Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan

    Pengintegrasian layanan sosial (community service) ke dalam mata pelajaran dalam bentuk layanan belajar sosial (service learning) dapat dilakukan melalui mata pelajaran di sekolah seperti mata pelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKN). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi pemahaman siswa SMP mengenai potensi pelaksaan layanan belajar sosial melalui mata pelajaran PPKN di sekolah. Data dikumpulkan melalui survei terhadap 107 siswa di SMPN 1 Kalidawir, Kabupaten Tulungagung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, siswa memiliki pemahaman yang sangat baik mengenai manfaat pelaksanaan layanan belajar sosial. Siswa juga yakin dapat melaksanakan layanan belajar sosial jika kegiatan tersebut diintegrasikan dalam pelajaran

    The learning of technology : applying multimodal analysis and delta theory to study the online discussion forum of an e-reader tablet

    Ph.D. University of Hawaii at Manoa 2014.Includes bibliographical references.This mixed method research applied multimodal analysis, sociogram analysis, content analysis, discourse analysis, statistics descriptive, and hypothesis testing to study the process of learning Kindle Fire's usability through the online discussion forum. The key aspects discussed in this study are the semiotic resources of Kindle Forum, the meaning-making process, the affordances and usability of Kindle Fire, the affordances and usability of the forum, and the methodological implications for this study. Two settings of this study were (a) the webpage as an environment for users to experience elements of reading paths and (b) the discussion forum, as a place to post experiences using Kindle Fire. Simple random and purposive sampling were implemented to select, as samples, 437 postings from 247 participants. Data were primarily collected using observations, and MAXQDA 11 was the main software used to analyze the data. Findings and analysis affirmed that: (1) the Kindle Fire Discussion Forum has multisemiotic resources that enable users to quickly perform acts of transferring meaning of the discussion content; (2) there were two categories of action potential of the forum: (a) actions made to the page and feedback from the page, and (b) interactions between users in the discussion itself; and, (3) discussions in the forum could not reveal the affordances but can be used to explain the conventions and constraints of the Kindle Fire. However, the methodology applied in this study would benefit from further testing in a similar, forthcoming study. As a starting point for this study, though, it began with a discussion on technology mediated assistance and peer support in learning new technology

    Student evaluation of instruction is important feedback for instructors to receive in order to refine and improve the learning quality of a course. A free online survey, such as Survey Monkey, can be used to collect the feedback. There is display feature in Survey Monkey that allow users to view the summary of the data in tables and charts. The free account does not support downloading data from the server, but users can compile it manually. This study focuses on using an online survey in the Indonesian Language Program of Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages in China. Students who were enrolled in the Indonesian Pronunciation Course evaluated the instruction in the course. The results showed that data collected through a well-structured online survey questionnaire, aligned with the aim of evaluation, can provide the instructor with sufficient information about the strengths and weaknesses of the instruction. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Evaluasi kegiatan instruksional oleh mahasiswa dapat digunakan sebagai bahan masukan untuk memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kualitas belajar mengajar mata kuliah. Evaluasi oleh mahasiswa dapat diperoleh melalui pengumpulan data dengan angket pada survei daring bebas bayar seperti Survey Monkey. Survei ini dapat menampilkan tabel dan grafik ringkasan data yang dengan mudah dapat digunakan oleh dosen untuk melakukan interpretasi. Data kualitatif dari hasil pertanyaan terbuka dapat dilihat pada laman Survey Monkey, namun hasil rinci yang akan diinterpretasi harus diunduh secara manual karena peneliti menggunakan akun bebas bayar. Penelitian survei daring ini memaparkan analisis dan interpretasi evaluasi mahasiswa terhadap kegiatan instruksional mata kuliah Pengucapan Bahasa Indonesia pada Jurusan Bahasa Indonesia, Universitas Bahasa Asing Zhejiang Yuexiu di Tiongkok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, data survei yang dikumpulkan dengan angket daring yang disusun secara terstruktur dan sesuai dengan tujuan evaluasi dapat memberikan informasi mengenai kelebihan dan kekurangan pelaksanaan kegiatan instruksional selama perkuliahan

    Learning media is quite important to be used by teachers in learning process. Through the media, teacher can easily deliver lessons, and in the other hand the media helps student comprehend lessons easily. Even more, media encourages student’s independence in learning. This research aims to produce a multimedia-based learning media, lectora, for basic skill of teaching lesson. The research is conducted to students of Social Science Ed-ucation Major who joined Social Studies Micro Teaching Class in June-September 2019. In developing the product, researcher used ADDIE develop-ing model. Data in this research is quantitative, in form of assessment by validator. Meanwhile, qualitative data is in the form of suggestion and comments by material and media expert validator.
